2025 SYTTENDE MAI CANOE RACE
Friday, May 16th at 6:30PM SHARP!
The Syttende Mai Canoe Route is 3.5-mile going down the Yahara River, with one portage at the Forton Street Bridge in downtown Stoughton ending near Mandt Park on Riverside Drive.
The race launch point is 2714 Yahara Rd, 53589. No parking is available at the launch point, so please unload and move your vehicles right away.

REGISTRATION--The entry fee is $40 per canoe. Registration includes an official Canoe Shirt for each participant. Early registration allows us for proper shirt ordering. Please register by May 1st to guarantee your race shirt. Registrations received after May 1st are not guaranteed a shirt.
There will be no "day-of" or "on-site" registrations.
GUIDELINES:
Maximum canoe length: 17'
Canoes must weigh 50 lbs. or more.
One extra paddle allowed per canoe.
Portage required to qualify for awards.
No paddleboards, kayaks, or packrafts.
One USCG-approved life vest required per person.
Participants Under 12:
Must be accompanied by an adult (18+).
Must wear a USCG-approved life vest at all times.
Prohibited:
Alcohol in canoes.
Inappropriate attire (ethnic wear welcomed).
Severe Weather:
Festival coordinators will work with local officials to assess severe weather risks, such as lightning or flooding, and notify participants at the race start if conditions are unsafe.
If severe weather occurs while the race is underway, officials at the portage will require participants to get off the river.
Please remind spectators that there is ample parking available after dropping off canoes at Oak Knoll Park on the corner of Williams Drive & Hwy B. There are good spots to watch the race on the bridge at Hwy B, at Forton Street Bridge and at the finish line near Mandt Park.
